Running and Smoking.





  Since I marked my first 10km finished and still a smoker at that time,I never dream to quit smoking. I enjoy running and smoking very much. Being a smoker and finish my running without too much trouble is an achievement for me. If you want to run casually and not targeting any race to win,yes,you can take cigarette as your good buddy. Actually our running performance is up to our training. How hard you push yourself during training is matters. How you implement the tips and technique is the other important reason to succeed your run.
I have many no-smoker friends who still struggling to finish their 5km run below 30 minute. I clocked my own bench mark for 5km run in 24min.  So,why quit smoking..?

   It can be a million reason I can give to quit smoking. May be I can blame nicotine for risking my heart condition or popular lung cancer or just want to have a clean image. Many of us worry,our health condition will get worth if we keep smoking. Smoking is one of the many reason for you to get heart problem or cancer or bad image. Lim Wei Yee,a runner in Standard Chartered KL Marathon only taking part in 10km run and dies at 8km mark due to heart problem. He is a non smoker forever. Many of my friend who smoke and taking part in longer miles and more intense survived and finished the run. Smoking me clocked sub 3hrs for 21km. Why it's happend to a non-smoker like Lim Wei Yee..?

  My lady neighbor past away last year due to her stage 4 lung cancer. According to her husband,she never smoke,never consume alcohol and practice a healthy life. I never see her drink at mamak restaurant in our area. Why she become a cancer victim since she never had nicotine through cigarette. 

  To quit smoking,you don't need a million reason,or even health condition. You just need somebody to spark you to quit. Nothing more then that. Even you yourself can be that "somebody". If you want to wait for a reason to do so,you will keep buying pack after pack of cigarette for long time. For me,I did it at once. I quit as soon as I read one of my friend status in facebook declaring he and his brother in law quit smoking. I just jump in to the bandwagon and cruse together with them as a non-smoker. It's not an easy part in life,but this process give me higher challenge,good lesson how to control ourself. 

   To the smokers, I urge you to try this,you won't regrets. You'll find out about self honesty level which we always lineal toward it all this while. It is interesting experience,where you need to be a real you. This experience is about controlling your mind,stop yourself and be calm. I like myself better.


Quit Smoking is one of the best way to enjoy life...
